Heidi's digital patterns will provide you with the same step by step embroidery instructions you would receive in a regular kit, along with a comprehensive thread colour code guide complete with a DMC conversion chart (particularly useful if you are buying more cost effective , bulk packets of skeins/floss online) and the pattern image which can be printed and traced.
Tips for tracing your pattern:
Ideally, use a light box or pad (often you can pick these up for £10-£15 online). Print you pattern on A4 paper (it is set to fit a 6 inch hoop approx 15.2cm), place on the light box with your fabric ontop and trace away. 
If you aren't keen on committing to a light box/ there is always the good old fashioned 'window' method. Once you have printed the design align it behind the fabric you want to use, tape to a bright window and trace using a pen/pencil or better still a special sewers pen (ink that disappears when you iron it and apply heat).
You want to be sure to use a pen/pencil with a fine tip to avoid ink 'bleeding' and distorting the design
